Casper van Uden victorious on opening stage of AlUla Tour

Team DSM-Firmenich PostNL's Casper van Uden has taken the win on the opening stage of the 2024 AlUla Tour in Al Manshiya.

Five men had formed the day's breakaway, including two of the local, Saudi competitors. But with 15km to go the last remaining attacker, Unai Zubeldia, was caught and the race was all back together and heading towards a bunch sprint finale.

In the sprint to the line, it was Casper van Uden who proved the strongest, powering past Dylan Groenewegen and Tim Merlier.
