Tadej Pogacar and Paris-Roubaix, a mix that cycling fans have been waiting for for years. The World Champion is a rider that thrives on all terrains, but is yet to make his debut in the 'Hell of the North'. However, this may not be in the distant future, as the UAE Team Emirates - XRG rider has reportedly explored the route of the French monument.
Pogacar travelled to western Europe and this morning he was in Flanders, where he shared an Instagram story at the Berg Ten Houte climb. It is assumed that he explored the Tour of Flanders route together with Tim Wellens.
However the trip may not have been only to explore the climbs of Flanders. Award-winning photographer Gaetan Flamme has written in social media this afternoon that the rainbow jersey was at the Trouée d'Arenberg. There is an information void on the UAE camp, no indication that there was a trip to France, but the Arenberg forest is only just over 60 kilometers away... A 1-hour drive away, and it's certain that the Slovenian has staff alongside him to support him.
Flamme, who was close to the area working in a cyclocross event this weekend, has shared with CyclingUpToDate that several people saw Pogacar ride through the Trouée d'Arenberg. It is possible that amateur riders may have captured the sight this afternoon, which would provide undeniable evidence that the World Champion could have potential intentions of making his debut this spring.
At the time being we know that Pogacar will race Milano-Sanremo and the Tour of Flanders with a great deal of attention, whilst he also has the intention of racing the Ardennes classics. However, he could extend his schedule with Roubaix, even if for the experience. At the time being it is known that there is the intention for him to race the Vuelta a España this year but the team does not officially confirm it. We could see a similar situation develop with the French classic.
