Tadej Pogacar's season will begin soon at the UAE Tour but before the World Champion makes his debut with the new UAE Team Emirates - XRG gear in competition, he is still doing some training and exploring of some of the races he will tackle this spring. This weekend he is in Flanders to remind himself of the cobbled sectors of one of the races he aims to win this spring.
Team Visma | Lease a Bike notably already conducted recon of the cobbled classics as early as November before teams even went on their team training camps, but it is not a given requirement to anticipate this. However for teams who take winning the Tour of Flanders seriously, every detail matters and they are keen on having their riders know the route like the back of their hand.
Hence, UAE is also present in Flanders this weekend with some of their riders to explore the route once again. Tadej Pogacar has shared an Instagram story on the climb of Berg ten Houte which will be tackled in the Belgian monument.
It is expected that the Slovenian will have the company of riders such as Tim Wellens, Jhonatan Narváez, Rune Herregodts and Florian Vermeersch in the race he won back in 2023 - with further teammates to be decided. It will be Pogacar's second main goal of the spring, following Milano-Sanremo.
