Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team have revealed the early season programmes of some of their top riders. Among them, GC hopeful Ben O'Connor.
A former top-4 finisher at the Tour de France, O'Connor has significant Grand Tour prowess despite never having managed to secure a spot on the podium in one of cycling's biggest stage races. The 28-year-old will be hoping to change that fact and finally stand on a Grand Tour podium in 2024 when he targets the Giro d'Italia.
Starting his 2024 campaign at the Vuelta Ciclista a la Región de Murcia on the 10th of February, O'Connor will then move on to the Clásica Jaén Paraiso Interior on February 12th. After a week's break, O'Connor then travels halfway around the world for his first stage race of the season at the UAE Tour.
The main target of the season however will be the Giro d'Italia. The last time O'Connor travelled to the Giro was in 2020. At that edition of the race, the Kiwi finished 20th overall and managed to take a first career Grand Tour stage win on stage 17. This time though, the Maglia Rosa will surely be the goal.
