Lotto is a team that over the past years has been developing plenty incredible Belgian talents, but simultaneously that also means the team struggles to have the finances to keep them on board against a flurry of hungry World Tour teams who want the strongest young riders in the peloton. That seems to now also be the case with Alec Segaert, who may be heading to Bahrain - Victorious next season.
Segaert is a three-time under-23 European time-trial champion and has stood out in the discipline over the past few years, not just at the youth ranks but also at elite, with him winning the ITT at the Renewi Tour last year, where he then led the race and ultimately rode to a second place in the overall classification. The 22-year old is not only an expert time-trialist, but has also stood out with his strong riding in the classics - also riding to his first pro win last year at the GP de Criquielion, and finishing third in the hilly World Championships in Zurich in his category. This year he was 10th at Dwars door Vlaanderen.
According to Wielerflits there is already an offer on the table for the Belgian from Bahrain - Victorious who are looking to anticipate the bigger World Tour teams.
