Bahrain - Victorious have extended their contract with
Antonio Tiberi into 2027. This is revealed on the day that the
Giro d'Italia starts and the Italian will be at the helm of the team's overall classification ambitions.
“I am very happy with my contract extension. I immediately felt at home with this team," Tiberi said in a press release. "In addition, my condition has really improved here. So I have taken steps both physically and mentally. Everyone on this team has helped me, and I am very grateful for that. I'm sure I'll keep getting better. I am growing as a rider and person here."
Tiberi signed for the team in mid-2023, after having his contract with Lidl-Trek ended over an incident where he shot a cat near his residence in San Marino. Ever since, Tiberi has gotten accustomed to Bahrain's structure and ridden into a leader status this season. Strong performances at the Volta a Catalunya and then a podium at the Tour of the Alps was enough to convince the team into giving him the lead at the Corsa Rosa - with Damiano Caruso and Phil Bauhaus also as protected riders.
Team manager Milan Ezren adds to this motivation: “Antonio has already shown great things this season. He is very disciplined and has shown that he is mature. That is why he is also our leader in the Giro.” The new contract spans until 2027.
