Astana does it again! Harold Martin Lopez wins Tour de Hongrie queen stage and jumps into race lead

XDS Astana Team continue to sweep UCI points and at the Tour de Hongrie they look set to collect a lot more. Harold Martín Lopez has won the queen stage and jumped into the race lead after a strong solo win.
The third day of the Hungarian race didn't feature much climbing, but it was still the most important day of the race. Victor Vercouille, Matyas Nagy, Zsolt Istlstekker, Umberto Poli and MIchal Schuran formed the day's breakaway, and they were slowly caught during the final climb of 11 kilometers at 5.6%.
XDS Astana Team and Lidl-Trek have worked throughout the climb and made it quite hard. Sergio Higuita launched an attack with 3 kilometers to go and split things up, and quickly after Harold Martín López launched his own move and went solo off the front. Exactly as he did at the Tour of Turkey, the Colombian proved to be the strongest climber in the race and soloed to victory on the queen stage. Alessandro Covi was third and Albert Philipsen sprinted to third.

Llywelynglyndwr17-06-2025 - I really don't see the reason for it being named after the newspaper anymore, so the name change is good. However, I think the new name is a bit of a mouthful, but abbreviations are out of the question. If you wanted to keep it as close as possible to the original it'd be Critérium du Auvegne-Rhône-Alpes (I'm not sure if that's correct)... which is even more of a mouthful. - Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe need to take Lipowitz to the tour as a co-leader. Taking into account Lipowitz's performances and Roglič's tendency to crash out, it's not an option to sacrifice Lipowitz should Roglič be in trouble. Lipowitz beat Evenepoel by a significant margin in the Critérium du Dauphiné - I think he can fight for the podium. João Almeida would have to sacrifice himself for Pogačar, while I don't think Skjelmose will be putting much of a showing.Llywelynglyndwr17-06-2025
