XDS Astana Team continue to sweep UCI points and at the
Tour de Hongrie they look set to collect a lot more. Harold Martín Lopez has won the queen stage and jumped into the race lead after a strong solo win.
The third day of the Hungarian race didn't feature much climbing, but it was still the most important day of the race. Victor Vercouille, Matyas Nagy, Zsolt Istlstekker, Umberto Poli and MIchal Schuran formed the day's breakaway, and they were slowly caught during the final climb of 11 kilometers at 5.6%.
XDS Astana Team and Lidl-Trek have worked throughout the climb and made it quite hard. Sergio Higuita launched an attack with 3 kilometers to go and split things up, and quickly after
Harold Martín López launched his own move and went solo off the front. Exactly as he did at the Tour of Turkey, the Colombian proved to be the strongest climber in the race and soloed to victory on the queen stage.
Alessandro Covi was third and
Albert Philipsen sprinted to third.
