Lotto has provided an update on Arnaud De Lie’s race schedule, confirming that the Belgian national champion will not be competing in Milano-Sanremo.
"Arnaud De Lie will not take part in Milano-Sanremo. After struggling with illness in recent weeks, he doesn’t feel 100% ready for La Primavera and has decided to focus on Nokere Koerse (March 19th) and GP Denain (March 20) as key preparation races for the rest of the spring classics. GP Denain has therefore been added to his schedule. The rest of his program remains unchanged."
At just 22 years old, De Lie is widely regarded as one of the most exciting prospects in Belgian cycling. His national championship victory last year, combined with a strong debut at the Tour de France, secured his reputation as one of the sport’s emerging stars.
However, the start of his 2025 campaign has been far from ideal. He endured a difficult Opening Weekend, encountering bad luck in both of the first two classics of the season. Now, after struggling with illness, he has opted to prioritise his long term goals over rushing back for Milano-Sanremo.
Hopefully we will see him back to his very best soon, and he should be a contender in the major races again in no time.
