It's been less than a month since Arnaud De Lie crashed hard in the opening stage of 4 Jours de Dunkerque. Normal human would take months to recover, but not the young Belgian. He's already announced to ride Tour de Wallonie in July while not entirely ruling out start at National Championships, although in a rather supportive role.
Today the Walloon rider announced that he will be at the start of the Tour de Wallonie on July 22. "That's only in a month and a half, but it's a race I like. There are a lot of sprint opportunities and it's in my home region," he said.
"Tom Steels talked to Maxime Monfort about my fall. He says I still have to find the way to sprint that suits me best. Maybe I will start sprinting like Van Aert. He is always 3 or 4 kilometers from the line in the first 5 positions."
De Lie's long-term goal is European Championship in the Netherlands. "I have already been in contact with national coach Sven Vanthourenhout about this," he says. "The course around the VAM mountain suits me so there is a good chance that I will go."
