Little could've been done against the perfect lead-out by Visma | Lease a Bike's Wout Van Aert at Clasica de Almeria. Or at least so was the impression the fourth place Arnaud De Lie shared with Het Nieuwsblad afterwards.
Arnaud De Lie had to be satisfied with fourth place. "This is not a bad result for my first bunch sprint of the season," said the Lotto Dstny rider. "Especially because it was difficult for us to organize ourselves as a team in the sprint. Ultimately I can still launch myself, but fourth place was the maximum."
For De Lie, the Spanish weekend was all about preparation for the Omloop Nieuwsblad in just under two weeks. "I still lacked some rhythm in these races, but now I can work towards the Omloop. I know the course there well and today the team showed that it is going well."
