A former three-time World Championship winner,
Peter Sagan takes part in the men's elite road race for the final time in his career today. Whilst not considered one of the favourites, the Slovakian's army of fans will be hoping for a farewell success.
“The others must be nervous, not me. I expect everything to explode when we get into the local rounds. That's for sure. Then you should be ready," the 33-year-old told Wielerflits in a pre-race interview. “What are my chances today? We'll see. I'm going to do my best and then I'll see how it goes. Anything is possible, but it will be very difficult."
