"Antibiotics done. Back to the mountains" - Primoz Roglic steps up Tour de France preparation after completing Giro crash recovery

Although he may have taken a backseat in some people's Tour de France thoughts after Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard's performances at the Criterium du Dauphiné last week, Primoz Roglic is another name with firm Maillot Jaune ambitions for the French Grand Tour in 2025.

Roglic had initially hoped to be heading to the Tour de France off the back of a Giro d'Italia win. Although the Slovenian spent time in the Maglia Rosa earlier this year however, the Giro ultimately ended up being a massive disappointment as a string of crashes in consecutive stages forced the Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe leader to abandon on stage 16.

Now though, after some time spent recovering from his Giro d'Italia crashes, Roglic is stepping up his Tour de France preparations and beginning the road back to full fitness ahead of his battle with Pogacar, Vingegaard and co later this summer.

"Antibiotics done. Back to the mountains," writes Roglic in a recent update to his official Instagram account. "Now gagagaga. Que sera, sera," he adds in typical Roglic fashion.

The hope for Roglic now, will be that a good spell at altitude can see him grow his level ready for the Tour de France, perhaps aiming to peak in the third week. After all, he remains the big GC hope of the Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe team, as explained by Florian Lipowitz after his podium at the 2025 Criterium du Dauphine behind Pogacar and Vingegaard. “The plan is to support Primoz Roglic; he is the big leader there,” the German said of the upcoming Tour de France.
