"Antibiotics done. Back to the mountains" - Primoz Roglic steps up Tour de France preparation after completing Giro crash recovery

Although he may have taken a backseat in some people's Tour de France thoughts after Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard's performances at the Criterium du Dauphiné last week, Primoz Roglic is another name with firm Maillot Jaune ambitions for the French Grand Tour in 2025.
Roglic had initially hoped to be heading to the Tour de France off the back of a Giro d'Italia win. Although the Slovenian spent time in the Maglia Rosa earlier this year however, the Giro ultimately ended up being a massive disappointment as a string of crashes in consecutive stages forced the Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe leader to abandon on stage 16.
Now though, after some time spent recovering from his Giro d'Italia crashes, Roglic is stepping up his Tour de France preparations and beginning the road back to full fitness ahead of his battle with Pogacar, Vingegaard and co later this summer.
"Antibiotics done. Back to the mountains," writes Roglic in a recent update to his official Instagram account. "Now gagagaga. Que sera, sera," he adds in typical Roglic fashion.
The hope for Roglic now, will be that a good spell at altitude can see him grow his level ready for the Tour de France, perhaps aiming to peak in the third week. After all, he remains the big GC hope of the Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe team, as explained by Florian Lipowitz after his podium at the 2025 Criterium du Dauphine behind Pogacar and Vingegaard. “The plan is to support Primoz Roglic; he is the big leader there,” the German said of the upcoming Tour de France.

- I hope you are wrong but I suspect you will be proved correct. It might do something for Scottish tourism - although due to logistics the route skips the most spectacular parts of Scotland. leedorney07-11-2026 - The road from Holyrood to Edinburgh Castle is a nice steady climb of just over a mile that is cobbled in many parts. (Very slippery if wet!) - It would be great if the World Champion's jersey could be rotated among McNulty, Simmons, and Jorgenson. They threaded the needle perfectly. If each hadn't done exactly what he did, exactly when he did it, the race would have gone to one of the more heralded superstars. That said, how nice that this humble and hardworking guy gets his moment in the sun.

- Hmmm, you seem to have a very convenient black and white view of things. Perhaps you haven’t been around much to discover how complex problems can become over time with people who know how to control, manipulate (or worse) others so gradually or subtly that you arrive at an irresolvable situation before you realise. This is how many inconveniences get introduced to the young, naïve, passionate or “desperate”, knowing they are not armed, protected or strong enough to defend themselves once it’s too late. Why do you think omerta culture is so widespread, why do you think so many people continue to go through so many awful things in life that others can’t understand anyone getting into?
