Annemiek Van Vleuten unstopable at Giro Donne as she wins third stage

Annemiek Van Vleuten has won the seventh stage of the Giro d'Italia Donne 2023. The Movistar Team rider managed to take the win after catching Spanish rider Mavi García, who launched a solo attack 13.5km from the finish line in search of what would have been her first stage win in a Grand Tour.

The Liv Racing TeqFind rider, who has just won the Spanish road cycling championship, her fourth in a row, tried to surprise her rivals with an attack that Van Vleuten herself, Juliette Labous and Gaia Realini caught up with 10 kilometers to go.

After that, Mavi García ran out of legs and was losing time to the three riders who quickly caught up with her attack. With just 1.7 kilometers to go, Van Vleuten launched a final attack to get rid of her pursuers and achieve, alone, her third win of this women's Giro to further extend her lead with the maglia rosa.

Team DSM-Firmenich's Juliette Labous and Lidl-Trek's Gaia Realini finished the stage in second and third place, respectively, completing the day's podium.
