For a second time in a short period, the German national team had to search for a new leader. André Greipel picked up the function in spring 2023. After two seasons with the team, the former top sprinter hands over the baton.
"I am grateful for the experience I was able to gain as team manager of the German national professional team, but unfortunately I can no longer continue in this position due to time constraints," the 42-year-old former professional was quoted as saying in a statement by the German Cycling Association on Tuesday.
His successor will be Jens Zemke. The 58-year-old is not a new face at German national team as he had already held the position before Greipel. He currently also works for a Swiss track team. "I have agreed to step in at short notice and am happy to be able to help the association," he said in the same press communication.
