Amanuel Ghebreigzabhier unable to fully recover from stage 14 crash and abandons Giro d'Italia

Trek - Segafredo's Amanuel Ghebreigzabhier is the latest rider to be announced as withdrawing from the Giro d'Italia with the Eritrean still struggling following a stage 14 crash.

In a post on the official Twitter account of the Trek - Segafredo team, it was announced that the 28-year-old would not take to the start of today's stage 16.

"Unfortunately Amanuel Ghebreigzabhier will not be at the start of today’s stage of the Giro d'Italia due to ribs pain, consequences of the crash he was involved in stage 14," says the announcement. "Heal up, Amanuel."
