"Almeida says he's nervous and Roglic says he has bad legs, they're fun games" - Geraint Thomas ahead of Tre Cime di Lavaredo

Geraint Thomas arrives at the Tre Cime di Lavaredo stage, the queen stage of the Giro d'Italia 2023, as race leader with a 29-second lead over Primoz Roglic and 39 seconds over Joao Almeida. He expects, logically, a very hard finish and that he will continue to maintain the level he has shown so far.

"I'm looking forward to Monday (laughing). It's the queen stage with a very hard finish, but I hope we continue at the same level. We expect the finish to be very hard, I hope we keep doing what we're doing, it's going to be a hard day, there's no doubt."

As for his team's tactics, Swift and Puccio will not be in the breakaway as they were on stage 16, so as to protect the five-rider team. They will be there for the less demanding start and when the chain of passes begins, it will be the turn of Laurens de Plus and Thymen Arensman:

"Those 2 will be in the first part, the other two are in the top 10 and will be with me at the end." He was asked if he had spoken to Roglic and Almeida and joked: "Almeida kept telling me that he doesn't see it clearly, that he is nervous and Roglic that he has bad legs, they are funny games".
