Alejandro Valverde suffered an accident that saw him to break his collarbone. The 43-year-old Spaniard retired from professional road cycling in 2022 and took the direction of Gravel and Mountain Bike events.
Valverde was admitted to La Vega hospital after the accident, where the collarbone injury was confirmed, and will be out for several weeks. It remains to be seen whether he will compete in the next event on his calendar, the Spanish Mountain Bike Championships, to be held on February 4, 2024, and the Cape Epic in South Africa in March.
