In his first career attempt,
Adam Yates took the overall victory at the
Tour de Romandie. Alongside impressive performances from his teammates, most notably Juan Ayuso,
UAE Team Emirates have a lot to positive about.
"I have to thank the team, today we controlled the race very well. For us it was a perfect week, with two stage wins and the big one in the general classification, we couldn't have asked for better," the 30-year-old Brit revealed in a post-race interview after his 19 second, general classification win ahead of Matteo Jorgenson. "It was a fantastic week for the team."
Looking ahead to the future, the Tour de Romandie winner is expected to be alongside
Tadej Pogacar later this summer as the Slovenian looks to reclaim his
Tour de France crown. So does Yates think UAE Team Emirates can use this win as a springboard for future successes?
"Now, I'm going to take a little break and then I'll do a training camp at altitude to perfect my condition before the next deadlines," he explains. "Will I do the Tour de France? We'll see. Anyway, the team will be built around Tadej Pogacar."
