"A legend in the history of Quick-Step" - Remco Evenepoel enjoying farewell ride with Julian Alaphilippe at the 2024 Tour of Britain

Returning to racing for the first time his historic Olympic double, Remco Evenepoel has mostly been working in the service of Soudal - Quick-Step teammates Paul Magnier and Julian Alaphilippe at the 2024 Tour of Britain. On stage 4, he was again successful as Magnier sprinted to the stage win.

"I did my job," the double Olympic champion reflects in his post-stage 4 interview afterwards, before heading to his warm down bike to keep on riding. "I had to answer a few attacks, like Hayter's. That went well, it went better than yesterday. The conditions were also more pleasant. Now, another 70 to 80 kilometres, about two hours extra after this short ride."

As mentioned, at the 2024 Tour of Britain, Evenepoel is working alongside Julian Alaphilippe. This marks potentially the final collaboration of the two Soudal - Quick-Step stars, with Alaphilippe set to depart the team for pastures new at the Tudor Pro Cycling Team, when his contract finishes at the end of the current season.

“He is one of the most iconic riders in the history of the team. Becoming world champion two years in a row, not many can say that. Many victories, 15 days in yellow in the Tour... A legend in the history of Quick-Step," Evenepoel says warmly of the Frenchman. "And a super good guy.”
