"A deal between Remco Evenepoel and Red Bull- BORA - hansgrohe imminent" according to reports

Remco Evenepoel and Primoz Roglic have gone head to head at a number of Grand Tours over recent years. In 2025 and beyond however, could the superstar duo become teammates at Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe?

Well according to a report by HLN, representatives of Evenepoel and Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe are close to securing a deal that would see the Belgian link up with the team in the near future, ending his lengthy spell with Patrick Lefevere and Soudal - Quick-Step.

"In recent days, several sources within the peloton assured us that a deal between the world time trial champion and Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe would be imminent or even completed," the Belgian newspaper reports in some blockbuster news that if true, would surely shake the cycling world. It's worth noting though, that the report also suggests that Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe are far from the only team with a very viable and realistic interest in the former Belgian national champion. In addition to Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe, the likes of UAE Team Emirates, INEOS Grenadiers and Israel - Premier Tech are also reportedly courting Evenepoel's signature for the coming years.

With 12 stages down at the 2024 Tour de France, Evenepoel, on Grande Boucle debut let's not forget, sits 2nd overall, just 1:06 down on the Maillot Jaune of Tadej Pogacar and with a comfortable buffer to 4th placed Joao Almeida of 3:14 in the fight for a podium place.

Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe's current Tour de France leader, Primoz Roglic, crashed late on stage 12, losing more than two minutes and now looks all but officially out of the fight for yellow this year. Could we see a Roglic, Evenepoel dual pronged GC attack for the team in 2025? It's certainly an exciting proposition although there remains much that has to happen before that becomes reality.
