The queen stage of the 4 Jours du Dunkerque was conquered by
Alpecin-Fenix's
Gianni Vermeersch, as he sprinted to the win in a reduced group atop the final ascent. Philippe Gilbert, after his win two days ago, has gotten himself in the lead of the overall classification and in pole-position to win the race.
With the attacks in the final laps, a group of six riders managed to forge clear of the rest, and although the race didn't see major gaps, the bonifications were to play and saw the group sprint to the line in the battle where the Belgian succeeded. Having lost time the previous days though, Gilbert now leads the race with four seconds over
Oliver Naesen.
