The Vuelta a Espana has this morning officially announced it's wildcards for the 2024 edition. Four ProTeams have received and accepted the invitation to race the Spanish Grand Tour, including two home teams.
Israel - Premier Tech and Lotto Dstny have automatic wildcards to the race because they were the highest UCI-point scoring ProTeams last year. Currently, after one month of racing, they find themselves in the same position into next season.
Two other teams had to be selected for the race, and there were four main contenders - the Spanish teams. There was no room for all of them, but ultimately organizers have given the opportunity to Equipo Kern Pharma and Euskaltel - Euskadi.
This leaves Burgos - BH and Caja Rural - Seguros RGA out of the race. Other big lineups such as Tudor Pro Cycling Team and Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team will be focusing their efforts somewhere else throughout the summer and fall.
