Results Tour de Pologne 2026 Stage 6 - Visma domination continues as Louis Barre wins solo

Team Visma | Lease a Bike continued their grip on the 2026 Tour de Pologne as Louis Barre claimed the first professional victory of his career with a solo win on Stage 6.

Barre attacked clear on the final ascent of the Bukovina Wall and held off a rapidly closing group of GC contenders in Bukowina Tatrzanska, crossing the line 10 seconds ahead of Christian Scaroni and Marco Brenner.

The Frenchman had briefly ridden himself into the virtual race lead after beginning the day only 23 seconds behind Lemmen, but the late chase looked to have reduced his advantage enough for the Dutchman to remain on top of the general classification, however a late sprint for second by Scaroni saw the Italian take bonus seconds and snatch yellow on countback.

Even so, the stage underlined Visma's strength in Poland. Lemmen had already won Stage 4 and taken yellow, while Barre finished third on Stage 5 before turning his own GC position into an aggressive winning move 24 hours later.

Stage 6 had opened with repeated attacks before a strong nine-man break eventually settled at the front. Walter Calzoni was the most active rider in that phase and used the succession of categorised climbs to collect heavily in the mountains classification. The Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team rider eventually secured enough points to move into the KOM lead, but the break never gained enough time to seriously threaten the stage victory.

Visma kept the move under control for much of the day before the escape was reeled in as the race entered the repeated Bukowina circuits.= The decisive phase began on the penultimate ascent of the 1.6-kilometre Bukovina Wall when Santiago Buitrago attacked from the GC group.

The Bahrain Victorious rider quickly opened a gap before Barre countered and bridged across. With Barre sitting only 23 seconds behind Lemmen overall, the move immediately became significant for the general classification as well as the stage victory. Wilco Kelderman was among the riders reacting behind, while further attacks prevented the peloton from settling into a sustained chase.

Barre and Buitrago carried an advantage of around 20 to 30 seconds towards the final passage of the climb, putting the Visma rider into the virtual yellow jersey.

The cooperation between the two leaders ended before the final Bukovina Wall. Barre stopped contributing to the pace before attacking on the steep slopes. Buitrago was unable to follow and was quickly distanced, leaving the Frenchman alone at the front.

Barre reached the summit with around 25 seconds over the peloton and initially maintained his advantage as the riders behind struggled to organise. Christian Scaroni attacked from the chasing group, Jan Christen also accelerated and Finn Fisher-Black repeatedly tried to force a move, but the succession of attacks produced hesitation as much as cooperation. Buitrago was eventually caught while Barre continued alone.

With 10 kilometres remaining, his advantage was still around half a minute and he remained the virtual race leader. The gap began to fall on the run towards Bukowina Tatrzanska, dropping to around 15 seconds with six kilometres remaining before growing again as the chase stalled.

Barre reached the final three kilometres with roughly 25 to 30 seconds in hand, leaving the stage victory firmly within reach.

Fisher-Black launched another late move and Lemmen reacted, while Alberto Bettiol also tried to attack inside the final kilometre, but none could prevent Barre from completing the solo win. He crossed the line in 3:09:05, 10 seconds ahead of Scaroni and Brenner.
