Cycling can't install a salary cap because, unlike other sports, they don't have a common revenue stream (TV) which can be split evenly amongst all the teams. The TV rights are owned by the owners of the races, not the teams. Vaughters is delusional, he hasn't thought it all the way through. Which is a bit mind blowing because this is his job.

you're so wrong. First of all, Naesen asked Van der Poel to not attack. Then vdP gave information, willingly. If Naesen shares that information, then vdP will never tell him anything again in the future. If a friend tells you something in confidence, you keep the secret, that's an ethic which should be kept not only in cycling, but life in general. vdP shared that information with him as a friend. Once that confidence is broken, it's over. Naesen can still use the information to his own advantage. And also in the future, if vdP shares with him and vice versa. Finally, if you're known as a rat, it's just not something that is respected, not just in the peloton.
