Diminishing a riders performance due to weak competition has been popular among cycling fans lately. I think that principle could be applied here too. Taking 2.14 on Carapaz and 2.29 on Bagioli and four minutes on a group that couldn't cooperate is below what could be expected by the goat on 70 km of hilly terrain this close to the tour. After all it wasn't Evenepoel and Seixas chasing him. Hopefully he held back today. He looked a bit heavy too. Still needs to loose some af that Paris-Roubaix weight. I hope he manages to loose those extra kilos in the next weeks. They could be expensive against Seixas. Also not super clever to waste that much energy so close to the tour on a stage he would win anyway in a race he will win anyway. Seemed a bit desperate. I'm worried for the tour. But I will enjoy seeing him dominate the rest of tour de suisse. What a legend.
