Yves Lampaert casts aside disappointing spring and marries the mother of his son

For Yves Lampaert it was a spring to quickly forget. The Soudal - Quick-Step rider finished eighteenth in the Tour of Flanders and 36th in Paris-Roubaix. On a private level, everything is running smoothly. Today the former Belgian champion married his great love Astrid Demeulemeester. Together they have a son, Aloïs (2).

In an interview with HLN, he spoke out about the marriage. "Aloïs is our greatest commitment. But I think getting married is very valuable. Especially because we are only doing it now. Getting married when you're still on that early pink cloud is nice. But do you really know what you promise each other? In good times and bad. But what is that actually? We now know each other inside and out. Now I know: yes, we promise something to each other, which we know we can also deliver. We trust that this is possible."
