Pauline Ferrand-Prévot given the honour of carrying French flag in closing ceremony of 2024 Paris Olympic Games

The 2024 Paris Olympic Games come to a close this Sunday. As always in the closing ceremony of an Olympics, the flags of each respective nation will be carried by some of the stars of the games. For home nation France, mountain bike legend Pauline Ferrand-Prévot has been given that honour.

After years as the most dominant force in women's mountain biking, all that was lacking from Ferrand-Prévot's palmares was an Olympic medal. In front of a rapid French crowd in Paris, the home hero finally delivered, putting in a near faultless display to take a dominant victory in the women's race and secure a famous gold for her nation.

As a result, Ferrand-Prevot, who has since revealed she is leaving mountain bike in an attempt to win the Tour de France Femmes with Team Visma | Lease a Bike, will now be front and centre of the closing ceremony, carrying the French flag alongside rugby star, Antoine Dupont.
