- He's treating it like a training ride and now he can treat every subsequent stage as a training ride.
Performance-wise it's nothing special considering his otherworldly standards. What I would be surprised by is if he replicates this on stage 3. There, the peloton has 58 flat kilometres after the big climbing is done, which would be interesting.

Trump Ass Kisser Syndrome
- Well I'm not a fan of him but that doesn't mean I don't find it exciting. Usually that sort of ride is reserved for classics. Compared to his exhibitions at the Worlds, Europeans, Strade Bianche and Il Lombardia it's nothing special when you consider the competition. But I can't remember him doing anything like this in a stage race. The fact that he is now treating stage races like classics is scarier than he already was.
There are some Pogi fans who found this disappointing as they wanted to see him demolish van der Poel on the final climb, and see the gap balloon as though van der Poel was in a standstill. It's somewhat less interesting when it happens as it did.
Not going to lie though, the other 4 races today were more interesting. Although Red Bull's domination in Slovenia wasn't much less than this.
- I've never seen a guy in modern cycling who can hold form at his level the way he does. Simply amazing.
- ridiculous. he just rode away. it wasn't even an attack. he never even looked stressed, not for a second of the day.
- Just watched the first Tour de Suisse stage. Wondering if Storer wants to walk back that comment at all.
- Did Trine cause the infection to give her hubby more perceived support?
- No one can touch Tadej.. What a stage!
- I can see how non-Pogi fans may find this boring. As soon as Pogi attacked from a distance, the race was as good as over. The same script follows every time Pogi is on a bike. The Tour has been decided as soon as it started.
But for Pogi fans, this is very exciting. This is him making every other racer look pedestrian. He's definitely superhuman. Next stop TdF!!
- Just as I figured when I learned he missed the last altitude camp. He needs to recover, rest and finish this season strong in another event, maybe the Vuelta. It's hard to race and be effective when you are injured.
