Wout van Aert has won the Superprestige Gullegem. The Belgian was in a league of his own, separating himself from the competition and maintaining his lead until the end.
Lars van der Haar got off to a good start in the race, with Zdenek Stybar and Wout van Aert close behind. Van Aert allowed the other racers to do the hard work while he stayed close to the front with Michael Vanthourenhout, Eli Iserbyt and Felipe Orts.
Vanthourenhout attempted an attack, but van Aert countered and regained control. After four laps, van Aert launched an offensive attack that put pressure on the others. During this time, Vanthourenhout experienced a mechanical failure with his handlebars. The Belgian was soon in the lead with a gap of over 15 seconds.
Wout van Aert crossed the finish line with ease and secured his seventh win of the season. Eli Iserbyt took the silver. Michael Vanthourenhout finished third.
