Yesterday, we reported that Gerben Kuypers had suffered a broken collarbone following his crash during Sunday's World Cup Namur. Unfortunately, he isn’t the only rider to face injury from the course, as Witse Meeussen has now confirmed he also broke his collarbone during the race.
The 23-year-old Belgian took to Instagram to update his followers about his condition. Despite the setback, Meeussen remained positive as he reflected on his performance and the road to recovery.
“Finally got a better feeling after some difficult weeks during the World Cup in Namur. Unfortunately, one small mistake got big consequences,” Meeussen wrote.
Meeussen revealed that he had undergone surgery, expressing gratitude for the care he received, “I’m back home after a successful operation on my left collarbone. I’m grateful for the help and care from AZ Herentals.”
The Belgian, who has had a challenging start to his cyclocross season, also thanked fans for their support, “Thank you for all the kind messages I got! I hope to be back on my bike soon with the help of the right people around me.”
