Thymen Arensman set for trio of cyclocross races to begin 2023: "It's just like training"

Thymen Arensman is set to prepare for his debut season on the road at the INEOS Grenadiers by racing a trio of cyclocross races in Belgium through January.

No stranger to the crosses, Arensman rode a total of seven cyclocross races in 2022 with his best result being a 17th-placed finish at Grand Prix Garage Collé back on New Year's Day. “I would have preferred to ride a few national crosses around Christmas, but there are not really any," Arensman revealed to Wielerflits. "That's why I'm now looking at a number of C2 and C1 cyclocross races in Belgium."

The three races that the Vuelta stage winner will be taking part in are the X2O Bathrooms Trophy van Baal on January 1st and the X20 events in Herentals and Koksijde on January 3rd and 5th respectively.

Not putting any unnecessary pressure on himself, Arensman isn't expecting going into these races expecting or demanding victory. "It's just like training." the relaxed Dutchman says. Training in preparation for his expected return to the Giro d'Italia with INEOS in support of Geraint Thomas's quest for the pink jersey.
