Riders have to prepare for harsh conditions at the European Cyclo-Cross Championships

The European Cyclo-Cross Championships in Pontchâteau will be likely held in rather unpleasant weather conditions. Extremely bad weather is expected, especially for Saturday, when the elite women will complete their cross country. Weeronline.nl predicts that 4 centimeters of rain will fall that day combined with gusts of wind.
The Saturday of the European Cyclocross Championships starts at 11 a.m. with the competitions for junior women. At 1.30 pm it is the turn for U23s. The elite women will conclude the event at 3 p.m. They will all have to deal with a strong southwest wind from the sea, the inevitable rain and temperatures around thirteen degrees.
A day later, the weather in Pontchâteau ought to improve somewhat. Although the junior men (11 a.m.), promises women (1.30 p.m.) and elite men (3 p.m.) will probably not stay dry either. On Sunday there is a 70% chance of rain and the wind will weaken a bit.
