Shirin van Anrooij is one of the several riders coming up the ranks through multiple disciplines, and after a successful year on the road, she will be returning to Cyclocross this 20th of October at the Kermiscross Ardooie.
Wielerflits have confirmed this will be the case. Ardooie will not only be the Dutch rider's opening race of the winter, but also Zoe Bäckstedt's as has been confirmed by the Briton herself in a press release.
Van Anrooij, only 20 years of age, has had an incredible season on the road this year where she has won both Road Race and Time-Trial in the under-23 European Championships. Additionally, she has also won the Dutch under-23 time-trial title, the youth classification at the Tour de France Femmes and team time-trials at the Postnord Vargarda WestSweden and Ceratizit Challenge by La Vuelta together with Trek - Segafredo.
Her results in cyclocross, where she has grown in the last few years, weren't a single notch less impressive however as she is the reigning under-23 European champion in a highly competitive field. She has won Jingle Cross Day 1 and the Hexia Cyclocross Gullegem last season , and will be looking to add further wins into her tally this season. The World Championships - at under-23 level - where she finished second last winter may be a prime goal for what may be her final year before entering the Elite ranks.
