Joris Nieuwenhuis has taken victory at the Dutch National Cyclocross Championships and he's done it some style too.
In a nightmare start, two of the hopefuls Ryan Kamp and Mees Hendrikx were immediately put on the deck in a crash. With two laps in the legs, it looked like a battle between Pim Ronhaar and Joris Nieuwenhuis for the title with Lars van der Haar not at the front. Whilst van der Haar wasn't at threat from behind, his chances of moving up the podium were slim.
With the race at its halfway point, Nieuwenhuis blasted clear at the front solo. In a matter of minutes, Nieuwenhuis was well clear of Ronhaar, half a minute lead with two laps to go. And that is how things stayed. Nieuwenhuis enjoying a procession to the line with Ronhaar a comfortable second and Van der Haar completing the podium.
