“I made too many mistakes" - Pim Ronhaar left frustrated despite podium at World Cup Hulst

Despite taking his first World Cup podium of the season in Hulst, Pim Ronhaar isn't completely satisfied after the Dutchman of the Baloise - Trek Lions team finished third, 20 seconds down on the eventual race winner, Niels Vandeputte.

"I'm not really satisfied. I made too many mistakes,” a frustrated Ronhaar reflected in his post-race interview afterwards. “I think I could have done one place better. Niels was outstanding today. He didn’t make any mistakes, I think. After two laps I was already forty seconds behind, so there was nothing I could do about him. But maybe I could have beaten Felipe Orts, if I had made fewer mistakes. But I’m okay with it.”

“It was very treacherous, very different from the reconnaissance. The women also went over it of course. It was more slippery than expected. That was a surprise to everyone," Ronhaar concludes, already turning one eye to Sunday afternoon in Zonhoven. “I do have the feeling that I was not really able to dig deep. It was more about technique than content. We will do that tomorrow.”
