Fem van Empel has won the UCI World Cup Antwerpen. In the second lap, she created the gap that she maintained until the end to win her ninth race of the season.
Puck Pieterse started with a nice lead, and soon Fem van Empel joined her. They created a gap and separated themselves from the group. Shirin van Anrooij met with a crash but recovered quickly.
Fem van Empel was leading, with Pieterse chasing her. The sand section was proving to be challenging for Pieterse. By the second last lap, Van Empel enjoyed a lead of over 10 seconds against the Dutchwoman, which increased to over 20 seconds in the final lap.
Fem van Empel crossed the finish line first and took her ninth victory of the season. Puck Pieterse finished second and Shirin van Anrooij took the bronze.
