Belgian cyclocross star Eli Iserbyt is reportedly competing in Mountain Biking this summer and will likely be riding in the World Cup.
The Pauwels Sauzen Bingoal rider, on an interview with Sporza, has said, "as a continental team it remains difficult to include races in the road program. Every summer is the same with the Baloise Belgium Tour, for example."
"If you always ride the same races you are longer motivated. It is ideal to discover something new". That something new, for Iserbyt, will be the XCO World Cup. He is planned to participate in the Albstadt and Nové Město tracks in May, and Leogang in June. He adds, "The extra workload should make me stronger for next winter. Secretly, I have a higher goal in mind: The 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. But first I want to see what I'm worth."
After a successful season in cyclocross where he won the World and Telenet Superprestige cups, Iserbyt will take a resting period before looking towards the summer: "I don't know at what level I will be able to ride. It will be a discovery. The intention is to ride a World Cup round and see how it goes there. I will have to refine everything, but I want to discover myself in it and do just that little bit more," he completes.
