Wout van Aert was already set to ride a much reduced cyclocross calendar this winter, taking on only six races in total. That's now set to be even shorter though as illness has ruled the Belgian star our of his opening race of the campaign.
"Unfortunately, Wout van Aert has fallen ill and will not recover in time for tomorrow's race in Mol," announces a statement by Team Visma | Lease a Bike on social media. "We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back in action soon."
