Yves Lampaert:" Fabio to win is perfect. But I lost my jersey"

The second stage of the Tour de France was held on Saturday. Yves Lampaert finished 15th in the stage ,he was happy for his teammate and stage winner Fabio Jakobsen.

"It was very nervous, all day long—narrow roads, twists, and turns. There were also super many people along the road. Then you come to the bridge with a headwind, where I didn't want to take any risk. So I went to ride on the left side, but one of EF Education-EasyPost fell clumsily, and I went over," Lampaert said of his late crash in the Great Belt Bridge.

"Fortunately, without too much damage. I was in the perfect position for the last corner. Fabio was in the sixth position there, I think. I then waved off at 450 meters. For Fabio to win is perfect. But I lost my jersey... It is what it is, There wasn't much time for realization. I Think I'm only going to realize now. It was very nervous, so I wasn't able to enjoy it," said Lampaert to Sporza.

Thanks to his victory in the first stage of the Tour de France, he holds second place in GC behind overall leader Wout Van Aert and is in striking distance of getting it back in the coming days.
