Although Soudal Quick-Step dominated the spring last year, this season has been different, as evidenced by the outcomes of the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne races.
"I think we rode a very good course until Berg ten Houte," Yves Lampaert told In de Leiderstrui after Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne. “Then I find out about that big crash in which Alpecin-Deceuninck was also involved. I was really not badly positioned.”
He concurs with the idea that nothing is guaranteed, and there is the potential for results to improve in the future. “Of course, it's there. For me personally, it was also a bit the circumstances that were not optimal.”
Jumbo Visma is currently dominating most races on the calendar, Lampaert and his team will take immediate measures to stop them.“Jumbo-Visma is indeed very strong. We must undergo the course. Now it is hoped that the condition will improve in the coming weeks and that we can still offer resistance. It's not good no, but we shouldn't get depressed either,” concluded Lampaert. The next race that he will take part in is Paris-Nice.
