Wout van Aert wins super combative award at Tour de France

Jumbo-Visma have taken a big portion of the Tour de France's success and trips to the final podium in Paris, and one more has been assured as Wout van Aert was unanimously voted the super combative rider of the 2022 Tour.

The Belgian won three stages, all under different circumstances throughout the race, besides multiple podium places and crucial support for Jonas Vingegaard. Jumbo-Visma however did not hesitate to use the Belgian as a launching pad in the mountain stages, and often he played an aggressive role to keep the Dutch team ahead of the competition.

Van Aert featured in the day's breakaway on five different occasions, including both days where Jonas Vingegaard managed to take time on Tadej Pogacar at the Col du Granon and Hautacam. Not only that, but in several other stages van Aert was an attacking figure at the start of the the day, often stimulating breakaways to go up the road, and put UAE Team Emirates under pressure.

His win on stage four also came as a direct result of the Dutch team's aggressive stance, in which van Aert jumped away from the peloton in the final hilltop on his way to take an impressive solo win in Calais.
