Wout van Aert may take early leave from Tour de France for birth of second child

Wout van Aert is aiming for stage wins and support for Jonas Vingegaard at the Tour de France this year, part of the reason why he will not aim for the green jersey is because he is well aware of the possibility that he will leave the Tour early, so as to be there for the birth of his second child.

"I don't plan to miss the birth. Is that why I said that I don't take the points classification into account? No, not that. But of course I do take into account that I want to be there," he told Sporza earlier this week. His partner Sarah de Bie is due for this summer, the Jumbo-Visma rider had confirmed earlier in the year, and the dates may collide with the Tour de France where he will be one of the headliners.
