Great Britain can celebrate its first gold medal at the 2025
World Championships, which has come at the under-23 time-trial World Championships in the women's event.
Zoe Bäckstedt was the strongest rider at the start and considered the main favourite, and the youngster has delivered with a stellar performance.
The women's elite race saw Marlen Reusser take a dominating win and in the under-23 field we've also had a similar performance where Bäckstedt was head and shoulders above the rest, albeit this time around she was the final off the start ramp. However, Bäckstedt 'did an Evenepoel', overtaking Marie Schreiber in the final cobbled climb before reaching the finish line in Kigali with the fastest time of the day.
Bäckstedt has taken the gold medal with 1:50 minutes of advantage over the silver medal Viktória Chladonová and 2:11 over Frederica Venturelli who secured the bronze medal.
