Thomas Gloag made another eye-catching result. The 21 years old cyclist from
Jumbo-Visma managed to finish second in today's stage of
Volta a Comunitat Valenciana (Stage 4). Only behind former Giro d'Italia winner Tao Geoghegan Hart.
'This was really fun. My teammates brought me to a good position, so I have to thank them for that. The last few days were already going really well, so I did hope for more today, but it is what it is", said the Jumbo-Visma youngster at the post race interview.
Another outstanding result from this British talent who is doing his first race in first season in World Tour level with the Elites. Gloag is facing much more experienced opponents and according to him experience had an impact in today's stage outcome.
"I actually wanted to go earlier, but I was completely tired. I also didn't realize how big the group was just yet. That might be a lack of experience, but that makes sense at this point", he said.
His results have made him clearly the team leader in this race and when asked if that doesn't put some pressure in him, he stated the team's motivation in him as his main motivation.
"Well, I was really nervous before today. But the team has a lot of confidence in me. When a team like Jumbo-Visma says that to me, I have to trust that", Gloag concluded.
