Tao Geoghegan Hart, the former 2020 edition winner of Giro d'Italia, managed to win again after this achievement. This time rider of INEOS-Grenadiers, won the 4th stage of Volta a Comunitat Valenciana in an uphill sprint finish.
"We had an open plan today. We wanted to be in the breakaway. That was a great opportunity for Thymen (Arensman, ed.). I think he flew today, because he stayed ahead for a long time. This allowed me to stay calm in the peloton and wait for the final", he revealed the plan for today's stage in the post race interview.
Winning again after a big victory like Giro d'Italia is always a special moment, but the British wasn't much happier with the way he celebrated in this stage win.
"I had promised my brother that I would cheer exuberantly, but the finish did not really lend itself to that", said Hart joking.
The British managed to win after being put back in the result in stage 2 due to a deviation from his line in the final sprint of that stage. This time all was legal and Tao is starting his season very well after some difficult years after his Giro win.
"I haven't experienced that before. It has been difficult for me in recent years anyway. I had a lot of injuries, but partly because of my family and team, I am back as before.", he stated.
