A very experienced and successful classics rider, Matej Mohoric comes into the Tour of Flanders as an outsider. His ambitions are realistic, yet the Slovenian remains a threat to those above as he does not have the responsibilities to work.
“We have a plan with the team, and we will do everything we can to get a podium finish. We must anticipate before the big three attack. We should be able to build further from that position," Mohoric said this Friday. An aggressive rider, his attacks have often proven successful in the past. The Slovenian may try his luck once again in Flanders having in mind when is the right timing to make his moves.

Showing good form since February, Mohoric is a big favourite for a Top10 position in the race. At Omloop Het Nieuwsblad he was on the attack, Kuurne - Bruxelles - Kuurne he was third, and that was followed by Top10 results at Strade Bianche, Milano-Sanremo and the E3 Saxo Classic. His form is on point but he faces very tough competition which will put him to the absolute limit at was the case in E3 when he was the closest rider to keep up with the winning trio.
At Gent-Wevelgem he also looked strong, but after attacking in the chasing group over the final kilometers he slid out in a corner. He still crossed the line in 43rd, and is confident that won't affect him this weekend. "That crash will not affect me in a negative way on Sunday," he concluded.
