Despite getting a little lost in the finale of his stage 1 individual time-trial, Primoz Roglic finds himself with the early general classification lead at the 2024 Itzulia Basque Country.
Therefore, spirits are high for the Slovenian leader of BORA - hansgrohe, heading into stage 2. "I feel good, thank you!" a smiling Roglic tells reporters prior to the start of stage 2. "It looks like a lot of up and down today," he previews.
Starting with a handy lead over the likes of Remco Evenepoel and Jonas Vingegaard among others, a stage 2 that is expected to end in a sprint, should give Roglic a more comfortable day in the overall race lead that perhaps is to come.
That doesn't mean he can have a 'sleepy day' though. "Definitely not," Roglic insists. "In the past it's every day here so we have to be focused and be there. On the one hand it's quite alright for the breakaway but this is one of the 'sprint days' so we'll have to see how it develops."
