Tudor Pro Cycling joins fellow Swiss ProTeam Q36.5 Pro Cycling as the only two teams to receive not one, but two Grand Tour wildcards this season. For the team of Julian Alaphilippe and Marc Hirschi, this marks a historical debut at Tour de France as the team seems ready to tackle on the challenge of reaching WorldTour in the next UCI relegation cycle.
"Having received the invitation for both the Giro and the Tour, we live this with enormous pride," Tudor DS Matteo Tosatto told Bici.pro. "But it is not a satisfaction in itself, it is not only because we have strong sponsors, but because we have built a credible project. It is the demonstration that we are working well, that the program is solid."
"On a personal level, I am also happy to return to the Tour de France: the last time I was there was before Covid, in 2019, and it was also the last victory of the Ineos Grenadiers at the Tour. It is a nice return."
The final verdict came only at the end of March. "It wasn't easy for us, because unlike the WorldTours, who already know months in advance of their presence, the invitation for us arrived only 30 days before. And this complicated the management of the individual programs. For the Tour we have more margin. But we still set everything up thinking from the beginning of both racing, reasoning as a great team."
"It's a great opportunity, but also a great responsibility. Those who go to the Giro know it well: it's our second participation, so we have some experience. The Tour, on the other hand, will be a debut for us, so there will be a bit more stress, but it's part of the game. And the riders know it. Whoever is chosen to start will have an important role and will have to arrive ready. We don't just want to participate, we want to leave our mark."
