As the days go by, a potential
Sepp Kuss Red Jersey victory is looking more and more likely at the 2023
Vuelta a Espana.
Jumbo-Visma teammate
Robert Gesink can see the confidence growing within the American.
“It's certainly interesting. We have three very strong men and the great thing is that the two anticipated leaders give Sepp Kuss the credit,” says Gesink in a pre-stage 11 interview with Sporza. “That is a huge advantage, also to be able to play three cards.”
The surest sign yet that Kuss is a genuine general classification contender came in the individual time-trial. Never renowned for his ability against the clock, Kuss put in a solid ride, maintaining his lead in the overall standings.
“It was a surprise to friend and foe that Sepp did so well in the time trial. It was a surprise for him too. Now we have to see if we can maintain this line," evaluates Gesink. “Sepp is increasingly getting the feeling that it is possible. The key is for him to remain relaxed about it. Relaxed as we know him, as he is and as he races.”
