Sprint finishes and intermediate sprints will drive the points competition, breakaways can quickly transform the mountains standings and the white jersey will develop alongside many of the same stages that decide the general classification. Each update will show the latest standings after the day's racing and highlight the important changes across all four competitions.
General Classification Standings after Stage 2
The overall classification has changed quite dramatically when it comes to positions on the second stage of the race. Ethan Hayter joined the breakaway of the day and, with bonifications, managed to jump into the provisional lead of the race. But then in the end, the Briton lost it once again after getting caught out in a split.
Hence,
Tadej Pogacar did not have to gain bonifications in order to win the jersey back. The Slovenian did take 4 bonus seconds at the line, but these wouldn't prove to be meaningful in the bigger picture. He now leads Wout Van Aert by 9 seconds and Matthew Brennan by 10 - both of which captured bonus seconds throughout the day.
The uphill finish saw splits and whilst the time loss is not dramatic, it is noteworthy that Felix Gall, João Almeida, Matthew Riccitello, Jorgen Nordhagen and Cian Uijtdebroeks were amongst those who lost 18 seconds at the line.

Points Classification Standings after Stage 2
Tadej Pogacar was third on the day and so, adding to last stage's points, has remained in the lead of the fight for the green jersey and ahead of the sprinters. This gap should only increase over the coming days.
Ethan Hayter remains in second place, having conquered points in the stage's intermediate sprint. Matthew Brennan is the first of the sprinters, now with 30 points, whilst Wout Van Aert has 25 and Mads Pedersen has 20 within the Top10.

Youth Classification Standings after Stage 2
Matthew Brennan will begin stage 3 of the Vuelta in the white jersey after winning in Manosque. The Visma rider not only had the legs to withstand the climbing well, but his punch at the finish saw him take 10 bonus seconds. This was enough to overtake his newest direct rivals Léo Bisiaux and Finn Fisher-Black. The gaps are very small and a change is certain, but Brennan will be climbing onto the podium.
